Scientist win Ig Nobel for showing that helium raises alligators' pitch

 An international research them including a japanese scientist won the Ig Nobel's Acoustics (音響学) prize on Sept. 18 after showing that an alligator's pitch rises after it inhales helium-enriched air.

 Takeshi NIshimura, an associated professor at Kyoto University, received the spoof (パロディーの) prize from the science humor magazine Annals of Improbable Research at its 30th First Annual Ig Nobel Prize Ceremony, which was conducted online due to the novel coronavirus pnademic.

  Nishimura said the team's experiment suggested that dinasaurs, which are closely related to crocodiles, may have had vocal tracts above vocal cords (声帯) to help them vocalize.

 

面白い研究です。恐竜の声にまで思いを馳せることができる、そんな研究であるところもまたいいですね。
